For WordPress professionals, managing staging and development sites is an essential part of a robust workflow. We understand the need for every iteration of your site to be fully functional and secure. That’s why we’re introducing new licensing notices within your SolidWP products, Solid Central, and the Member Panel, designed to bring clarity and peace of mind to your workflow.
Your Licenses, Unaffected by Staging
This upcoming notice will reinforce a key benefit of SolidWP’s licensing: your premium product licenses (including Solid Security Pro, Solid Backups – NextGen, Solid Central Pro, and Solid Suite) on valid staging and development environments do not count toward your overall license allowance. For example, if you have a Solid Security Pro license that covers 10 sites and you’re actively using it on 3 live sites, you have 7 licenses remaining. If you then spin up staging and development environments for one of those live sites, you will still have 7 licenses left, not 5. This ensures your development sites remain fully functional and protected without impacting your premium allowance for live client sites.
How SolidWP Identifies Staging Sites
To provide consistent, rock-solid functionality, SolidWP’s licensing system now identifies staging and development sites when they have been marked as such via Solid Central. This becomes especially relevant with the forthcoming release of Environments for Central Pro, making your multi-site management even more powerful. It’s important to note that products will be automatically licensed on these environments if the site’s URL conforms to a list of allowed URLs provided by Patchstack. As Patchstack provides virtual patching for Solid Security Pro customers, we align with their approved URL list to ensure seamless and continuous protection across all your sites.
What This Means For You
This means you can continue to build, test, and refine your WordPress sites with Solid Security Pro, Solid Backups – NextGen, Solid Central Pro, and Solid Suite without concerns about unlicensed functionality on your development environments. We believe in empowering you to focus on growth and building resilient websites, knowing that your tools are always working for you.
